Although their illicit affair ended over a year ago, Charlotte and her stepfather Joe are struggling to accept life without one another. Charlotte has returned to school and is living with a roommate who seems to have taken up a forbidden relationship with her own stepfather - Charlotte to relive memories of her own affair over and over again. But while Charlotte clings to the past, Joe is in therapy trying to move beyond the lingering feelings he harbors for his stepdaughter. And although Joe has begun to date again, his new relationship only serves as a reminder of what he and Charlotte once had - and maybe, in spite of it all, they can still have.
