The 4K Restoration comes with a new "e;revived"e; audio track, remixed by the original sound supervisor and mixer, Ronald Eng. The original theatrical 5.1 has been included from the JPN Blu-ray, changed from 23.976 to 24 FPS, and encoded with DTS MAS. Unfortunately, Imprint Blu-ray which runs at 24 FPS is lossy with a cut-off of 17 kHz. No other sources feature the 5.1 mix. Dolby Stereo mix has been ommited, as this is this is a native Dolby Digital 5.1 mix.
The mixes are significantly different and both warrant inclusion, the new remix includes new foley effects and sounds.
Restoration credits
The 4K-16 bit scanning was done by Fotokem (USA) using the original 35 mm negative. L'Immagine Ritrovata (Italy) was in charge of the image restoration and Fotokem performed the color grading. Ronald Eng, the original sound supervisor and mixer on this film, revived the soundtrack together with the director.
The restoration has been supervised by David Lynch.

The Straight Story was released on DVD on November 7, 2000. As with many of Lynch's films, there are no chapter markers on the original North American DVD release, with a note written by Lynch inside the DVD case that reads, "e;It is my opinion that a film is not a book - it should not be broken up. It is a continuum and should be seen as such."e;
