NOTES
The trio of iconic singer Sheila Jordan interprets a selection of luscious
jazz standards at Moods in Zurich in 2017. Born in 1928 in Detroit, this
legend of vocal jazz has passed through almost all of the recognised jazz
styles but specialised in bebop, hardbop, and free jazz. 89 years old, at the
time of this recording she helps us reconnect with a selection of jazz from
the last century.
A living monument of jazz, she moved to New York in the 1950s and married
Duke Jordan, a pianist in Charlie Parkers orchestra. It was in the same
period that she began her collaboration with Roswell Rudd. Here in this
concert, she works with some of the biggest names in the industry: Peter
Herbert, double bass player who has collaborated with artists such as John
Abercrombie, and Renato Chicco, a pianist who most notably featured in the
Lionel Hampton Orchestra in the 1990's.
Recorded on 2017, 19th September - Live At Jazz Club Moods, Zurich
