| Mariel is a lifeguard concerned with the welfare of people. One day |
| he rescues a suicide at sea and falls in love with his daughter, |
| Margarida Maria, a drug addicted prostitute. The enormous violence |
| Rio de Janeiro goes through and influences Mariel's decision to be a |
| policeman. He gets featured and is called to be security of |
| politicians. Carioca violence is on the rise and Delegate Goulart |
| creates the death squad, of which he becomes the leader, to |
| exterminate members of organized crime. Lucio Flavio is a criminal |
| who draws the attention of the media for the large number of murders |
| attributed to him. To Mariel's surprise, Deputy Goulart is also part |
| of the gang. Even so, he is not intimidated, kills the leader of the |
| gang and continue chasing Lucius Flavius. The death squad declares |
| war on the gang of stolen cars. As a result of his investigations, |
| Mariel becomes dangerous to the police. He is arrested but manages |
| to escape. He starts to live in hiding. Margarida Maria is admitted |
| to a hospice and dies of cocaine overdose. Mariel is again arrested |
| but continues to threaten Lucio Flavio, also detained by police. |
| Both are in different prisons. The war continues between the |
| prisons. |
