technical note
this scene was ripped from the blu-ray disc. the producer added an ugly haze / soft light filter to the scene and this led to some pretty awful color banding artifacts. i fixed the color banding, but because the image was so 'flat' the banding kept coming back after encoding. the solution was to encode in x265 10-bit and at a high bitrate.
