| Active since 2001, Ayyuka was one of the first bands to |
| look back to the Turkish music of the 70s and create a |
| new, unmistakable sound from it. Immediately after their |
| debut album in 2007, Ayyuka shared the stage with Sonic |
| Youth and Jonathan Richman; their third studio album |
| Sömestr is considered a cult album among record |
| collectors. Inspired by international names such as Dick |
| Dale or John Frusciante as well as local heroes such as |
| Erkin Koray or Orhan Gencebay, their music sounds guitar |
| oriented, their fascination with film music and |
| improvisation provides surprising twists and turns. |
| The worldwide hype of their single Yukadans is now |
| followed by their EP Zaman Ziyan, which leads the |
| listener through a kaleidoscope of musical landscapes |
| with borrowings from genres such as Afro-Beat, Funk, |
| Boss Nova or Arabesque. |
