Audio/Video Quality: Neighbor Affair 1 was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as originally shot by director Brett Brando for release by Naughty America. The lighting was decent this time, limiting the amount of grain and other visual noise the movie provided compared to an earlier release by the company. There were very few compression artifacts and the visual aspects of the movie were pretty good here. The composition of the angles and shots favored the ladies reasonably well and that elevated the quality of the visual presentation more than a little bit from what I've seen in the past. The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English stereo according to my receiver but I heard no separation between the channels and if the vocals were recorded in anything but monaural, I'd be very surprised. There was no music on hand to interfere with the vocals though so there was that benefit.

Body of Review: Brett Brando is the lead director over at Naughty America and while I may not be overly acquainted with his work, I've seen enough to know that he can actually make some good porn under the right circumstances. His latest flick is Neighbor Affair 1, a series of vignettes centering on neighbors getting together and having sex after some minimal set up takes place to establish the connection. I saw the cast had a lot of top notch hotties so I picked it up for review the other day and found it to offer some pleasing sex with a number of my favorite performers. Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting no condoms were used:

Scene One: Lisa Ann, the curvy babe on the front DVD cover, was up first as she dealt with a grumpy Billy Glide who was mad that she parked her car blocking him in. I laughed at the set up having had a similar situation in my own life years back (without the offending party being a hotty like Lisa). She used her very convincing feminine wiles and he responded like pretty much any straight man would by giving in to her needs; with regard to moving the car in the future as well as her more immediate physical needs for his cock. She showed why a few extra miles of experience pay off huge dividends as she slobbed his knob with the kind of seductive energy that really impressed me, leading to him orally pleasing her and a very active ride on the couch. They hammered away at one another during the vaginal sex, ending the hot scene with a frothy facial having shown some serious chemistry together.

Scene Two: Monica Sweetheart, one of the most attractive gals in porn, was up next as she towered over a diminutive guy with an Australian accent that I haven't seen in awhile. There were no extras at all, the technical matters were fair, and some of the cast that have always been completely reliable were not their usual selves but I admit that starting off with Lisa Ann and ending with Katja Kassin was an inspired moment. In short, Neighbor Affair 1 lacked the replay value needed for a higher rating but it was decent enough to use a time or two to satisfy your needs.

Initial Expectations: What I've seen of this series has been very good, but I've never seen Naughty America put any effort into their overall DVDs. I'm expecting another good collection of scenes without any care put into anything else.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects don't quite make the average mark. The audio is pretty clear, but due to an audio level that isn't too consistent and a balance that's sometimes a bit weak, some of the audio is hard to hear. The video is presented in the full frame format, and is also very weak. The lighting is pretty well done, but there's a fair amount of very noticeable pixelation in some of the scenes (which sadly seems pretty normal for Naughty America). There's also a bit of jumpiness to the picture in one of the scenes that was very distracting.

Music: None

Disc Complaints / Authoring Notes: The authoring is a bit funky, which doesn't seem to be anything too unusual with Naughty America. Rather than having the entire movie on a title that makes it easy for viewers to skip to where ever they choose in the movie, which is extremely nice if you get tired of a scene and just want to jump ahead randomly or if you're viewing the movie later and want to go to a specific point in the movie, each scene has its own title, similar to how some studios run their TV shows on DVD. Needless to say, this makes the DVD extremely hard to navigate. This style of authoring has thankfully gone the way of the dodo with most studios, but Naughty America and Homegrown seem to be sticking with it. Both studios are distributed by Pure Play (along with Hundies, who looks like they might have moved away from this style recently, and who actually include unique extras on their releases) and neither studio seems to be willing to put any real effort into their extras. Seeing that lack of care in the same areas for two studios being distributed by the same company I can't help but think that the problem and lack of care lies with Pure Play Media more than anything, especially when I talked with Naughty America at Erotica LA and was told they were looking at ways to improve their overall DVD and that I'd be seeing some changes in a few months. I realize these things don't happen overnight, or that one won't even see the difference in a few weeks, but I was told that several months before this DVD was produced. Combined with the downward slide of their video quality, I can't help but have the impression that they don't really care that much about the quality of their DVDs as long as a few people are willing to pay for them. I'm deducting a half point from the overall DVD for the poor authoring on this DVD.

Menus: The main menu works through a few clips from the movie for an okay first impression that seems a touch generic. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a still of the girl(s) in each scene along with their name(s). After you choose a scene you're given a second menu to let you choose where you want to go in the scene sexually.

The Feature

You may love them or you may hate them, but you know you're going to have to see your neighbors sometime. That makes it all so easy and all so hard to get a little extra something on the side with them. Maybe it starts with a friend who's helped you out a few times or maybe you need something from them. Here, Naughty America collects five of those instances from their internet line.

I'm actually a little surprised that this didn't turn into an anal scene with how it was going, but even as it is it's completely satisfying. This is yet another scene that worked very well for me.

Scene 5 – Eden DeGarden, Alex Sanders, and Chris Cannon

After losing the basketball game, Alex is none too happy with Chris not picking up his guy. The camera work got a little tight for my tastes, here, but with how hot the action was it was never enough to interfere with the scene too much for me. This is another hot and very well done scene.

Neighbor Affair 6 is quite possibly the best Naughty America release I've seen so far. The setups are all very nicely done, and in addition to working great to start building chemistry between the performers they often have a bit of humor. That's always a nice thing, but even nicer is having smoking hot sex and that's where Neighbor Affair 6 really shines. Almost every scene here is smoking hot, and although it's hard to pick a best scene here, Randi Wright's scene comes in as the weakest quite possibly due to coming in after Sasha Grey, Rachel Roxxx, and Tommy Gunn's smoking hot threesome. There's some nice intensity in the group scenes here that really surprised me, and the level of passion that comes out in almost every scene is also very impressive. Neighbor Affair 6 is a very hot release with plenty of well done setups.

That said, the scenes are all a lot of fun and the sex is very hot in every one. This could have been a great DVD is somebody would have put a little care into it.

Note to Naughty America: If you're going to put out bare bones DVDs without any effort, please put them out at a price low enough for stores to sell them at a price that would reflect that kind of product. Giving the guys credit as well as the ladies would also be nice, especially when you're aiming at the couples market as strongly as you are.

With the release of Neighbor Affair 7, Naughty America continues to explore the theme of "e;getting to know the neighbors"e; in a sexual way. Seven lovely looking ladies appear in five scenes, with the first two scenes featuring a threeway. With a sexy and diverse cast including the likes of Jenny Hendrix, Angelina Valentine and Alexis Texas, one might wonder if they're living in the wrong town.

The Good Stuff:

Audio/Video Quality: Neighbor Affair 9 was presented in letterboxed widescreen as shot by the uncredited directors of Naughty America, the MPEG-2 offering standard definition (480 resolution) and a video bitrate typically in the 3.2 Mbps area when spot checked. The scenes were all basic and previously released on the company website as well as on the listed series, certainly not standing out as high end web-to-DVD efforts but fairly decent at showcasing lovely ladies fairly well. The composition of the shots was standard and basic, the camera spending most of the time favoring the ladies as they went through the paces with the various men, all of the scenarios minimalist at best. The audio was presented in 2.0 LCPM with a bitrate of 1536 Kbps, the ambient noises and musical elements pretty limited and not factors in enhancing the visual aspects at all, but not detracting from them either.

Body of Review: Naughty America is best known as an internet porn producer that releases a small number of scenes onto DVD in various series, probably as advertisements to their extensive collections of original content. Their scenes tend to be on the short side, a kind of “down and dirty” approach with minimal tease after some dialogue establishes the premise of whatever the scene is supposed to show. I picked up their latest release, called Neighbor Affair 9, mostly because it had Xcritic&s Newcomer performer of the year Chanel Preston in it, Brooke Lee Adams and others adding some stroke value as well. In all, there were five scenes shot by unknown directors (well, uncredited, Christian XXX shoots a lot for them) and the performers selected were generally decent enough for my tastes. Here&s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Brooke Banner, the busty bleach blond featured on the front cover, was up first in the kitchen, cooking dinner for Mark Wood.
