Erich von Götha, also known as Erich von Gotha de la Rosière, was born in 1924 in London, UK. He is a pseudonym for British illustrator and comic book artist Robin Ray, who has also used names such as Janssens, Baldur Grimm, and Robbins. Ray is recognized for his erotic and sadomasochistic art. He studied drawing and painting for four years at an art school and began his publishing career in the 1980s with the English comic magazine Torrid. His early works were featured in the first 14 issues of Torrid and later published in the French magazines YES and Bédé Adult. Some notable works include "Contes à Rebours" for YES and "Crimes et Délits."
One of his most well-known series is "The Troubles of Janice," set during the time of the Marquis de Sade, which was released in four volumes starting in 1980.
In the early 2000s, Götha showcased his work in a solo exhibition titled "Sweat Tears Reflections" at the Mondo Bizzarro Gallery in Bologna.
