Erich von Götha - The Education of Sophie
Erich von Götha, born in 1924 in London, UK, is the pseudonym of British illustrator and comic book artist Robin Ray, who has also used the names Janssens, Baldur Grimm, and Robbins. Ray is known for his erotic and sadomasochistic art.
He studied drawing and painting for four years at an art school and began his publishing career in the 1980s with the English comic magazine Torrid. His contributions to the first 14 issues of Torrid were later featured in French magazines YES and Bédé Adult. Notable works include "Contes à Rebours" (for YES) and "Crimes et Délits," which followed the works of Georges Lévis. In the early 2000s, Ray held a solo exhibition titled "Sweat Tears Reflections" at the Mondo Bizzarro Gallery in Bologna. His most famous work is "The Troubles of Janice," set during the time of the Marquis de Sade, which was released in four volumes starting in 1980.Key works include:
