Retail AMZN HDR10+ layer which had a whopping total of 3144 dynamic scenes was trimmed, synced and injected to the UHD BD. Color matched but AMZN gamma was slightly raised in most shots which mostly only affected the luminancing mapping in the dynamic metadata and to a less extent the Bézier curves. We repaired and verified this to correctly match the USA UHD BD's gamma (with the 2.40:1 aspect ratio properly output blanked) using an HDR10+ LLC certified content mapper used by the industry. Dynamic scene location and quantity untouched preserving creative intent-- just gamma corrected for a perfect dynamic layer match.
For the best possible experience, the HDR10 static metadata was also recalculated as the peak CLL level was artificially capped at 1000nit which made no sense since both the dynamic layer and static baked in base HDR grade itself individual pixel luminance was not rolled off at 1000nit, but rather just mastered on a 1000nit monitor. This future proofs it and now your TV's PQ or dynamic 10+ tone mapper will handle the rest and allow this to look its best depending on the individual capability of any given TV/monitor.
Audio was tough, but eventually decided to keep with USA audio. Notes from EPS
"e;Some channel discreteness is better on the GER, but overall the USA track has a bit more punch and slightly better channel/mix cohesion. The Atmos spatial coding level also effects filtering (MLP quantization) as well, but the differences I heard here were beyond that. Probably some other minor preprocessing variations between the 2. And due to the different level of spatial coding, some sounds are rendered and placed on the channel based TrueHD 7.1 and 5.1 presentations a little bit differently as well"e;
Tonemapped all BD subs.
No named chapters anywhere, so corrected chapter timings off the USA UHD to scene change I-frames.
