In this vintage novel the one main character is described at the beginning as follows.

During the story Hank joined his old buddy Greg Bantam in a Mining project.
Greg liked Wanda those days.
“Wanda Wilde, who resided in the hotel and made her living off her men friends, kept Greg coming back for more. She was a raunchy redhead, with a mind of her own and a good sense of humor. Coupled with a bottomless appetite for sex, her qualities were exactly what Greg required in a woman.”

Ellie on the other Hand was impressed by Greg too, because, “he looked lean and powerful like something right out of a cigarette commercial”.  We can guess how the story went on here. And Ellie was impressed by Wanda. Wanda led Ellie to further sexual experiences, so she learned that a dog could be an added pleasure compared to these potent men.
The story goes on with more swapping and grouping, have fun.
