A participant returns for a hypnotic session and, due to prior experience with hypnosis, a new technique is employed where she reads the induction from a piece of paper. As she reads, she enters a blank trance state. During this trance, she is programmed to adopt a mindless robotic demeanor on command.

In this state, she is instructed to remove her dress, and upon being brought out of the trance, she has no recollection of her actions. The trance is reinstated, and further instructions are given that involve more explicit behavior. Afterward, she is brought back to consciousness again, but she feels reluctant to admit to experiencing pleasurable thoughts during her robotic state. The participant is hypnotized once more, this time with the addition of a glass toy, which she uses in various ways while repeating robotic phrases. After this activity, she is guided to dress herself and instructed to pick up the induction paper. Finally, she is given amnesia regarding the entire session and awakened, believing that the induction was ineffective and that she merely read from the paper.
